Susan Hassmiller, PhD, RN, FAAN

Sue Hassmiller serves as the senior adviser for nursing for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the National Director of the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, a 50 state effort to implement the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine report on the Future of Nursing. She is the recipient of a number of awards, three honorary doctorates and most notably the Florence Nightingale Medal, the highest international honor given to nursing professionals by the International Committee of the Red Cross. She is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine.

The OCNE conference brings nurse faculty together from 17 different nursing programs, for a day focused on education, scholarship, networking, and fun.  

General public attendees are welcome to join us with successful registration.  Space is limited and registration will end if we exceed our registration limits.

The conference includes a keynote presentation, panel discussion, poster and exhibitor viewing opportunities, and two breakout presentation sessions.   All activities are related to best practice and innovations in nursing education.

OCNE’s curriculum is “spiraled,” referring to the intentional revisiting of major topics throughout the curriculum at increasing levels of complexity, so that new is related to previous learning.

*The OCNE May Conference is planned to be a face-to-face event and guidelines and recommendations related to group gatherings will be closely monitored and observed.
